Regional Solid Waste Commission

Today, as a result of New Brunswick's Solid Waste Management Plan (adopted in 1987), twelve regional Solid Waste Commissions now manage all New Brunswick's waste. Empowered by the Clean Environment Act, the Commissions are mandated with the direct responsibility for all aspects of solid waste management in each region. The result is a system that meets waste management needs of the people and communities.

Commission members include municipal officials, Local Service District Advisory Boards and First Nations band councils (where applicable). The Commissions make and implement decisions locally.
