About the New Brunswick Solid Waste Association
The New Brunswick Solid Waste Association is a non-profit group dedicated to promoting and furthering the principles of solid waste management in New Brunswick. Made up of volunteer members of the regional Solid Waste Commissions and Corporations in the province, they have been actively involved in numerous environmental issues surrounding solid waste and waste diversion.
Strong interest from regional commissions around the province resulted in the incorporation of the association in January, 1998. Benefits of a provincial association have included:
- Presenting a unified voice when dealing with government legislation
- Dealing with provincial issues relating to solid waste management
- Public education and awareness on a provincial level as it pertains to all Commissions
- Building a communication network among partners in the solid waste management field

- NB Waste Diversion Strategy, including extensive participation for development of "Waste Reduction and Diversion in New Brunswick: An Action Plan"

- Round Table on Local Governance

- Illegal Dumping
- Highway Litter
- Waste Paint and Milk Carton Stewardship programs
